Life's a Sauna

I often use the analogy of a steam room when discussing how to handle the pressure of difficult circumstances. If you sit in a steam room or sauna, there's an amazing sense of release and relaxation as you enjoy the heat and start sweating. Maybe there's menthol eucalyptus in the air, and it smells great. Then the jets turn on or water splashes on the hot coals, and it gets really, really hot. You're barely tolerating the heat. Even though you're experiencing something very healthy, you start to feel uncomfortable.
Then comes the moment when you bolt for the door, because you can't take the heat anymore; you're just too uncomfortable!
Today, endure the discomfort associated with breaking the ego or the tendency to become defensive or feel insulted. It's a bit like allowing yourself to stay another minute or two in the steam room in order to build up a tolerance.
